Christmas in July Sale!

OneBookShelf is running its annual “Christmas in July” sale, and naturally BRW Games is participating. That means you can get everything in the BRW catalog at deep discounts:

What’s that? You want specifics? Well, roll these around your brain and see if it doesn’t scream BUY ME!!!

The original Castle of the Mad Archmage, in print, no less, for under $45. Yes, that includes both print and pdf! Seriously, you could literally spend years with your players in this dungeon. 13+ levels, thousands of encounter areas, new monsters, new magic, the thing is effing HUGE.

Not enough? How about this…

The Adventures Dark and Deep core rulebooks and DM’s screen, for under $100. Yes, again, that’s both print and pdf! What is it? Why, it’s 1E meets Gygax’s original plans for the next version of the game. Start with the 1E rules, streamline the stuff that needs streamlining, add new classes and spells and monsters and magic, and off we go! If you liked Unearthed Arcana, you’ll love Adventures Dark and Deep.

Plus there’s a whole bunch of other stuff also on sale; expansion modules, adventures, my take on a fantasy China expansion rulebook (all completely compatible with most Advanced RPGs… ahem).

So head on over and check out the sale! I wrote most of it, but honestly, it’s a really good deal, and stuff you’ll get a ton of use out of for years.

We have winners!

Well, two out of three winners, anyway.

In conjunction with the recent ADD/CotMA pdf sale, three lucky winners were going to get free hard copies of their purchases. All three winners have been contacted through OneBookShelf, but unfortunately I’ve only heard from two of them!

But we still have another winner to be heard from! If you’re reading this and bought a pdf during the sale, please look for an email from Chris Tang (from OBS) with the subject line “Free Book” and follow the instructions within.

If I don’t hear from our mystery winner within a week, I’ll be forced to draw another winner. I’ll also ask OBS to try to get in touch with him again.

Jonathan and Weird Dave, your books will be en route shortly. Thanks to everyone for participating!

PDF Sale and Drawing!!

Hey-o!

As we head slowly into the summer months, I thought I’d do an impromptu sale, with a contest to boot!

From Saturday May 6, 2017 through Sunday May 14, 2017, all print-possible pdf titles will be 20% off.

In addition, anyone purchasing a pdf version of a title (that has a print version) will be included in a special drawing. Two lucky winners will win a free upgrade to a softcover version of the title, and one lucky winner will get a free upgrade to hardcover (if available)!

Shipping to the United States is included. Outside of the U.S. you will be asked to make up the difference in shipping costs. But the books themselves are still free!

Purchases of titles that do not have a print version will not be included in the drawing. But if you get a print title, and want to try for a second copy, more power to you! The following titles have print options available:

A Curious Volume of Forgotten Lore
Adventures Dark and Deep Bestiary
Adventures Dark and Deep Game Masters Toolkit
Adventures Dark and Deep Players Manual
Castle of the Mad Archmage Adventure Book
Castle of the Mad Archmage Adventure Book (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Edition)

Castle of the Mad Archmage Map Book
Castle of the Mad Archmage Expansion – Level Three East

This offer does not apply to the Adventures Dark and Deep bundle, but does apply to the Castle of the Mad Archmage digital OSR bundle.

Good luck!

Golden Scroll of Justice now available

The Golden Scroll of Justice lets you bring your old-school RPG into a whole new world of wuxia/kung fu action based on Chinese mythology, history, and folklore. The book contains:

  • Two new PC races: the shanxiao (monkey-man) and gouren (dog-man)
  • Two new character classes: the wu and the fangshi, along with guidelines on how to use your existing classes in a mythic China setting
  • Hundreds of new spells
  • Rules for kung fu that fit seemlessly into the existing combat and skill system, but still allows for cool “cinematic” moves
  • New weapons and armor
  • New magic items
  • New monsters
  • And much more!

The rules are designed to be completely modular; take what you like, leave what you don’t. Want fangshi and gouren but not the kung fu system? No problem. Everything will still work fine. And it’s compatible with just about every old-school RPG out there. You can find the book here, available in softcover, hardcover, and pdf. And as always, the hard copies come with the pdf version at no additional cost.

Darker Paths 3: The Demonolater now available!

And now, just in time for the festive Halloween season, a new addition to the Darker Paths line of evil character classes, the Demonolater.

Demonolaters are priests who serve demon lords and ladies. The character class is a sub-class of cleric, but each demon lord has priests with special powers and spells, nearly 40 of which are included (with names like dark offering, invite possession, and warp reality).

This supplement also includes rules for demonic pacts and statistics for the demon lord Dagon and his minions, the dreaded carcharo demons.

You can buy the Demonolater on its own for just $4.25, or if you’ve been holding out for a collection of all three Darker Paths books (the Necromancer, the Witch, and now the Demonolater), you can get a bundle for just $9.95 (that’s 30% off the individual price!).

More Adventures Dark and Deep Video Reviews

Seems that someone really likes Adventures Dark and Deep! Keegan Reid has posted two reviews on his YouTube channel, one for the Players Manual and one for the Game Masters Toolkit, that are positively gushing. 🙂 Please do take a look, and subscribe to his channel. Lots of other interesting stuff in there as well.

I just love that years after they’re published, folks are still discovering the Adventures Dark and Deep books and getting this excited about what they see. Really, really makes it all worthwhile.

Kickstarter announcement – Golden Scroll of Justice

And the big announcement concerning the Kickstarter for The Golden Scroll of Justice, my upcoming mythic China/Wuxia sourcebook for old-school RPGs is…

There will be no Kickstarter.

A funny thing happened when I ran the numbers while I was preparing for the Kickstarter of this book. I realized I didn’t need the money to make it happen. Sales of Adventures Dark and Deep and Castle of the Mad Archmage have been good enough that I don’t need to go to the fans beforehand to make the next book happen.

I’m a firm believer that Kickstarter should be used to help create things that could not otherwise be created. Not as a pre-order platform, not to gauge public response to a product. I pride myself that, if I don’t need to go to the Kickstarter well, I don’t go. That’s what I did with the Game Masters Toolkit, and that’s what I’m able to do with Golden Scroll of Justice.

So… the planned release date is still by the end of this year. Hmmm… that’ll be just in time for Christmas. How convenient!
